This election season we are bombarded by public opinion survey results. Often times, pundits’ interpretations of these are confusing and contradictory. The workshop discuses the basic elements of survey research methods and practices that will help students navigate the sea of survey results. We will discuss challenges to polls’ validity and reliability.

Want to poll your friends and classmates on a topic? There are a lot of do-it-yourself tools to pick from. Lehigh students have access to some of the best research tools used by scientists to conduct survey research. This workshop introduces students to Qualtrics online survey tool that allows one to build, administer, and analyze their own surveys.
HOW TO SPEAK WITH NUMBERS: USING EXCEL FOR EASY STATS

Thanks to the Internet we have an easy access to quantitative information on any imaginable subject. How to make sense of this enormous amount of quantitative data? How to make these data speak a story one can relate to? You do not need to be stats savvy to make use of numbers. This workshop discusses few simple quantitative description and analysis techniques accessible to every student.
