Thomas P. Cavanna

Thomas Cavanna is Visiting Assistant Professor of International Relations at Lehigh University.  Prof. Cavanna's research interests include U.S. foreign policy and grand strategy, and U.S.-China relations.  He has recently taught courses on the Nuclear Revolution, The U.S. War in Afghanistan and U.S. Foreign Policy.

Prof. Cavanna holds a M.A. and Ph.D. in History from Sciences Po Paris (Institute of Political Studies); M.A. in Management from Audencia Business School; B.A. (online) from Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle, French "agrégation" in History.  He was a Fox Fellow at Yale (2009-2010); lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania (2012-2015); a postdoctoral fellow at Southern Methodist University (2015-2017); and a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy (Tufts, 2017-2021) before joining Lehigh's International Relations department in the Spring of 2022.
