Sabrina B. Arias, Assistant Professor of International Relations, explores how diplomacy, political relationships, and decision-making shape policy at the United Nations. Her recent book, Think Globally, Act Locally: The Determinants of Local Policymakers’ Support for Climate Policy, was published by Cambridge University Press in September 2026 with Joshua A. Schwartz. Arias was also recently interviewed by Envoy magazine for its article, “For Microstates, the Key to UNGA Success Is Choosing Wisely,” which examines how smaller states use diplomacy to strengthen their influence at the United Nations. Her work highlights the ways individual diplomats and smaller states can play an important role in shaping international policy. Since joining the Lehigh faculty in 2024, Arias has continued to examine how political relationships and individual decision-makers can influence policy at both the global and local levels.
